I build small web tools and keep them running, which is most of the work. Seven of them are on the shelf right now; two of those are quiet enough that I only touch them when a dependency forces me to, and one is a queue worker I finally turned off after four years.

Before this I spent nine years on other people’s infrastructure, mostly billing systems and the alerting around them. That is where the habits on this site come from: check the backup, send one page per incident, write the deploy note while you still remember the deploy.
